Craig Morrison & Graeme Reedie aka Silicone Soul return with another selection of superb remixes of tracks from their 2009 self-titled album ‘Silicone Soul’. The pair have looked to artists and producers that have touched and impressed them with their work, and the previous two remix EP’s have seen the likes of Masomenos, Ripperton, Jet Project, Marc Poppcke, Jairo Catelo, Bearweasel and Master-H all lend their skills to rework tracks from the highly acclaimed long player.
First up on this latest selection and getting to grips with ‘Dogs of Les Ilhes’ are the genial Hamburg duo Kollektiv Turmstrasse. Taking the thoughtful original KT, whilst giving us a dreamy and dramatic opening, their mix broadens into a deep driver that works brilliantly, matching its twisted bassline to its snarling synths.
Madrid based Prompt works his magic on ‘David Vincent’s Blues’. A steady, groovesome opening kicks up a gear as the originals jazzy elements begin to drop. Flute, soft keys and cymbal crashes pave the way for the trippy guitar line in the break. Extra funk is injected for the final third to round out a fantastic rework.
From Spain to France now as Nhar remixes ‘Midnite Man’, creating a beautifully warm and deep yet equally dramatic version. Swirling sounds and lush melodies are enhanced by the glowing buzz of the electro-tinged bassline.
Closing this EP are the German duo Nadja Lind and Helmut Ebritsch aka Klartraum, who deliver a second revision of ‘David Vincent’s Blues’. Their trademark fluid, deep and dubby techno is at work here, giving the original a more sinister edge.
Overall another excellent remix package from an excellent artist album. If you are a fan, don’t forget to check out the guys latest ‘Darkroom Dubs Vol.2′ compilation too!

by helmut ebritsch on May.03, 2010, under Klartraum, Releases
BEATPORT EXCLUSIVE

Hot on the heels of her own ‘Sunspots’ EP, label boss Nadja Lind teams up once again with Helmut Ebritsch under their Klartraum guise, on what is possibly Lucidflow’s finest release to date.
‘Pain Relief’ is an epic 15min trip. Deep and beautiful, it flows effortlessly throughout and showcases Nadja and Helmut’s supreme talent for creating the most inspiring of soundscapes.
For such a fantastic original, it was only right to draft in some esteemed remix talent. First up are the Scottish duo and Klartraum fans, Silicone Soul. Having signed a release to their Darkroom Dubs imprint and had them remix an album track, this was always going to be a perfect fit.
Silicone Soul keep the drama of the original, whilst adding a driving kick. Still with an expansive feel, this is sure to find favour with many.
Ocean Gaya spent much of his life skippering ships and sailing the world’s oceans. Since that time he has used those influences to create beautiful sun drenched music for labels such as Plastic City. Here he brings new meaning to ‘Pain Relief’.
Rounding out the package, and delivering some tough, industrial flavour is UK legend Gez Varley, aka G-Man. The darker touch is a fitting closure to a superb package.

Great Review of LF006 – Klartraum – Mainzelgroove

Mainzelgroove EP By: Klartraum
Label: Lucidflow
Written by: R_EXile
Rating: 8/10
The Mainzelgroove EP on Lucidflow sees label bosses Klartraum, aka Nadja Lind and Helmut Ebritsch, showcase their distinctly dark and edgy style in some deep and brooding techno terrain.
Title track Mainzelgroove kick-starts the 4-tracker with its forceful tech beats, throbbing bass and metallic stabs, which all together render an industrial yet neat vibe; snippets of chirping synths then sprinkle a bit of playfulness, decorating this dark affair with some gloaming colours.
Propelled by the floorshaking bass and spacey FX, Brett, arguably the best track of the EP, pulsates unrelentingly from the beginning to the end. A menacing sense of hollowness, alongside considerable momentum and tension, is generated by the gradual increase in energy level and power for the duration of 11 minutes, which resembles the mesmerising quality of many tracks by Radioslave – but in a more minimalistic and clinical manner here.
The galloping rhythm on Truc Que J’aime then further intensifies the momentum and harnesses the track in the pitch dark soundscape, whilst the loopy synth stabs and snippets of vocal render some hypnotic flavour. Despite the complication of components, again they are all arranged tidily and precisely.
Last but not least India Express offers the listener a fluid and hypnotic sonic ride driven by the relentless percussions, booming bass and slices of trippy synths. With its moody and smooth flow, it should be the most accessible track of the EP.
A delicately crafted single, it captures the deepness, neatness, and power that it is supposed to achieve. Whilst there are quite a few types of dark techno in the scene nowadays, the German duo manage to deliver their own deep and cutting edge sound this time; whether they can keep evolving and producing refreshing pieces in their own style – which does not seem to be unchallenging due to their dark and minimalistic approach – will be the key to their development in the scene in future.
